Have you ever…
-
Lost your voice mid-performance?
-
Had to sing through sickness, and wondered if it was safe?
-
Experienced things like reflux, allergies, or dryness… and had no idea what to do about it?
-
Looked at popular vocal remedies, from lozenges, sprays and syrups to vocal steamers and nebulizers, and wondered what will ACTUALLY help?
-
Dealt with vocal fatigue in your speaking or singing voice, and didn’t know why?
-
Questioned whether what you’re feeling is “normal…” or a sign of something more serious?
Or maybe you’ve asked yourself:
-
“What’s the difference between fatigue, strain, and injury?”
-
“What are tangible steps I can take when my voice feels off?
-
“My warm-ups don’t seem to do anything. Am I doing them wrong?”
-
“What is a vocal swelling check, and how do I do it?”
-
“Why does my voice feel different every single day?”
-
”“What is vocal budgeting, and how do I do it?”
-
“Who do I go to for help: a voice teacher, ENT, laryngologist or SLP?”
The truth is, many of us were never taught how to navigate these situations and questions. We just had to cobble together whatever we could learn on the go.
At EKM Vocal Studio, we work with singers and voice users every day across genres, styles, and careers, and one thing we see over and over again is this: even at the highest level, even the best singers are often missing a solid understanding about how to actually care for their instrument.
That’s exactly why we built this course.
This is the information every vocal athlete should have gotten, but didn't.

What is The EKM Vocal Health
Survival Guide?
In our new online course, we teach you both the why and the how of vocal health — blending science, practical tools, and real-world application. This is a singer and voice user’s essential survival guide to vocal health!
Here’s what’s inside the course:
First, we cover The Anatomy and Physiology of The Voice: the basics every singer and voice user should understand.
Then we move into Vocal Health Fundamentals, where we teach you about all things hydration, reflux, environmental factors, singing through sickness, medications, myth-busting, vocal budgeting, speaking voice habits, vocal injuries— basically, all the stuff we encounter in real life but don’t always get clear guidance on.
After that, we shift into a Practical Application section. This is where you’ll learn practical tools you can use in your everyday life: how to build an efficient vocal warm-up and cool-down, how to do laryngeal massage on yourself, how to do straw phonation and other SOVTs, how to build a resonant speaking voice, and more.
And finally, some bonus content: A Conversation with the Experts. This is a casual, honest discussion where Emily, Maurice, and Gabi answer common questions straight from singers, teachers, and our EKM community.

...and so much more!
Frequently asked questions:
Q: Is this course just for singers? This is a course built for all people who use their voice to an extensive and high level. That means singers, yes, and that also means anyone who uses their voice in a big way for their career: actors, public speakers, teachers, lawyers, the list goes on. The demands placed on these people’s voices (aka on their muscles, cartilage, and ligaments) is similar to the demands placed on an athlete’s body. Hence the term vocal athlete! And if you are a vocal athlete, you must learn to treat your voice as a high-performance instrument that requires training, conditioning, care, and rest. That’s where this course comes in!
Q: How long will I have access to this program? You’ll have lifetime access! Once you purchase, you’ll get access to everything forever. So, you can brush up anytime and anywhere.
Q: Is this a singing technique course? No. This course focuses on vocal health, not performance technique. You’ll learn how to care for, protect, and support your voice so that your technique can function more consistently and sustainably.
Q: Will this course give me new vocal exercises and warm ups to try? Absolutely! We have a Practical Application section of the course where we teach you how to build an efficient vocal warm-up and cool-down, how to do straw phonation and other SOVT exercises, how to build a resonant speaking voice, and more. However, if you are looking for audio tracks of singing warm up routines that are genre-specific and you can do on the go, we recommend you check out our other online program: The EKM Singing Series.
Q: What makes this different from free content online? You could perhaps piece some of this together online, but what most singers and voice users really need is clarity, structure, and trusted guidance. There’s a lot of information out there, but it’s often scattered, inconsistent, or not grounded in current voice science. This course brings everything together, combining science-backed education with practical, evidence-based tools you can use every day!
Q: I’ve been singing for years. Do I really need this course? Yes. If you’ve been singing for years, that is perhaps precisely WHY you need this information. Many experienced singers were never formally taught about vocal health. This course fills in those gaps and helps you build a more sustainable, reliable voice for the long term.
Q: Is any element of this course live, and with Emily? These videos are with Emily (and Gabi and Maurice!), but they are pre-recorded! If you want more individual attention after going through these programs, we highly recommend you sign up for sessions with any of our teachers at EKM Vocal Studio!
Q: When should I take this course? Before you need it. The best time to learn about vocal health is before something goes wrong — not after.
